 Introduction
Welcome and thank you for visiting Transplant Creations patient
information website.
During your visit you will be informed about stem cell
transplantation in general, as treatment for cancer and about reduced intensity
conditioning autologous and/or allogeneic hematopoietic progenitor cell transplantation for treatment of
cancer.
Our program was started in 2000 for metastatic
breast cancer and expanded in 2005 to lymph node positive breast
cancer; in 2007 a program for stage II-III breast cancer was
announced. In 2002 the program was expanded to leukemia, lymphoma, multiple myeloma or Kahler's
disease and neuroblastoma.

Reduced intensity
conditioning transplants are
transplants with cells from bone marrow, peripheral blood or cord
blood, that are characterized by preparative regimens and transplant
procedures which are more patient friendly and contain better
quality of life during treatment than conventional high dose or
myeloablative transplants.
Stem cells for hematopoietic cell
transplantation
can be derived from your own (autologous) bone marrow or from the
bone marrow of a donor (allogeneic).
In our program and protocols both type of stem cells are used.

To accomplish this type of treatment
successfully and fight your disease best several critical criteria
that are not transplant or disease related will also need to be
fulfilled. These include timely diagnosis, timely referal, timely
treatment by an experienced team. As a service, we offer
advice to patients in the context
of the treatment and transplant study program.

uw bezoek aan onze website.
Gedurende uw bezoek wordt U geinformeerd
over stamcel tranplantatie in het algemeen, als behandeling voor
kanker en over niet myeloablatieve dosis
gereduceerde conditionering autologe en/of allogene hematopoietische stamcel
transplantatie als behandeling voor kanker. Ons programma is in
2000 in de VS gestart voor uitgezaaide borstkanker en in 2005 uitgebreid naar lymfeklier positieve borstkanker
en in 2007 naar stadium II-III borstkanker.
In 2002 zijn protocollen ontworpen voor leukemie, lymfeklier kanker, multiple myeloma
of ziekte van Kahler en neuroblastoma.
Indien u recent gediagnostiseerd bent met een ziekte waarvoor
beenmerg of perifere bloedstamcel transplantatie wordt
toegediend, vraag om advies.
Niet myeloablative, dosis gereduceerde conditionering
transplantatie is transplantatie met cellen van beenmerg,
perifere bloed of navelstreng bloed, dat gekarakteriseerd wordt
door tranplantatie procedures, die meer patient
gericht zijn en betere kwaliteit van leven bieden dan
conventionele hoge dosis of myeloablatieve transplantaties. Stamcellen voor hematopoietische stamceltransplantatie kunnen
verkregen worden uit uw eigen beenmerg (autoloog) of beenmerg
van een donor (allogeen). In ons programma en protocollen worden
beide soorten stamcelbronnen gebruikt.
Voor succesvolle behandeling zijn ook niet transplantatie- of
ziektegebonden criteria noodzakelijk. Deze zijn ondermeer
tijdige diagnose, tijdige consulatie van/verwijzing naar
allogene transplantie doctoren en behandeling door een
ervaren team.
